Causes of a Fat Face

Toddlers and children look cute with chubby cheeks, but that cuteness disappears as you get older. You want to tackle the fat face, and the best way to do that is to find out what’s causing it. There are various reasons cheeks bloat and fat forms around the area.

Here are the three main causes of a fat face.

You’re Dehydrated

Sometimes it’s not all about you are eating or drinking. There are times when it’s about what you’re not doing. If you don’t drink enough water, your body starts to bloat. One of those places will be in your face. Try to get at least eight glasses of water a day, more if you’re exercising or it’s hot outside. It’s also worth avoiding drinks that are going to dehydrate the body, such as alcohol and coffee.

You’re Not Getting the Right Nutrients

Having a poorly balanced diet can lead to a fat face. The body needs certain nutrients and will react poorly if you don’t get them. Think about the type of diet you have. How often do you eat chocolate over vegetable sticks? Do you get plenty of lean meat and poultry or is your diet full of simple carbohydrates that are easy to break down in the body? Make sure you get plenty of vitamin C, as a fatter face is a sign that you have a deficiency.

Cut Out the Sodium

Another problem is the amount of sodium that you have in your body. You may be surprised at the hidden salts in food, so check the labels of your favourites. Sodium dehydrates the body, so you end up needing to drink more to counter it. Chances are you’re not doing that, and your body bloats and retains water. That then leads to the look of a fat face.

There are various reasons your face will look bigger than you want. Water retention and bloating are among the most common reasons, and you can counteract them. It’s time to focus on a healthy diet and make sure you get plenty of water!
